Frequently Asked Questions
FAQs
What is floatation therapy, and how does it work?
Floatation therapy involves lying in a special pod or tank filled with a highly concentrated Epsom salt solution, creating a buoyant environment that allows you to float effortlessly. The therapy is designed to minimize external stimuli, such as light and sound, creating a deeply relaxing experience that can reduce stress, improve sleep, and alleviate physical pain.
I have some mobility issues. Will I be able to use the floatation tank?
We deeply value the comfort and safety of all our clients. It’s important to note that clients need to independently enter and exit the floatation tank. If you generally experience difficulty getting into a standard bathtub, it might be challenging to use our floatation tanks, as we currently don’t have specialised equipment to assist in such situations. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and are more than happy to discuss any concerns or provide further information to ensure your comfort and safety.
Who can benefit from floatation therapy?
Almost anyone can benefit from floatation therapy! It’s particularly helpful for individuals looking to reduce stress, anxiety, and chronic pain. Athletes use it for muscle recovery, and creative professionals find it beneficial for enhancing creativity. However, it’s always advised to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new therapy regimen, especially for those with medical conditions.
How should I prepare for my first floatation therapy session?
To prepare, we recommend that you avoid caffeine and heavy meals a couple of hours before your session. It’s best to come in comfortable clothing. We provide all necessary amenities, including towels, earplugs, and shower facilities. If you have longer hair, you might want to bring a hair tie. Swimwear can be worn although if comfortable nothing should be worn so as to further avoid and distraction with straps or cords for example. Our staff will guide you through the process and ensure you feel comfortable and informed.
How long does a typical floatation therapy session last?
A standard session lasts for 60 minutes, but we also offer longer sessions for those who wish to extend their experience. For first-timers, we recommend starting with a 60-minute session to get accustomed to the experience.
Is the floatation tank water clean?
Absolutely! The health and safety of our clients are our top priorities. The water in our floatation tanks is fully filtered 3-4 times between each session using a combination of micron filtration, UV sterilization, and hydrogen peroxide. The high salt concentration also creates a naturally sterile environment.
Can I float if I'm pregnant?
Yes, pregnant women can enjoy floatation therapy, and many find it beneficial, especially in the later stages of pregnancy. Floating can provide relief from the physical strain of pregnancy by reducing pressure on the body and joints. However, we always recommend that pregnant clients consult with their healthcare provider before their first floatation session to ensure it is safe for them. Our staff is trained to provide extra support and ensure the comfort of our pregnant clients.
